The advantage to live in a city as Melbourne
it’s the sensation to
travel permanently… Then of course by its cosmopolitan side that I adore but
especially with a " vintage style "!!!
For information, the "vintage" word is a term Anglicism that
was used in oenology to speak about spirituous vintage wines or about wines
(maybe is that why I so much like using this word as every French people, this
notion being a part of my culture). By extension, this term applied
fashionably, in the decoration, in the cars and in the photo.
Small reminder done, here I was plunged at the heart of vintage
Melbourne … I am understandable.
First feeling when I arrived here, the fashion… I cannot speak about
vintage without speaking about fashion - and there it will be for you Ladies -
which was my surprise by seeing leggings, pairs of shorts with fringes and
bodysuits still in shop! Dive in the 90s. Disappeared from our shelves for a
long time, I had even read recently in a French women's magazine that the
legging was "has been". That to believe from now on?! Result,
wardrobe totally revised with always French Touch!
Second feeling the architecture… My look does not stop concerning to its
Victorian houses (built during the reign of Queen Victoria of England), which beauty
and which architectural vintage year! The advantage of the vintage it is
because we are very fast transported in another time and if we are ready to let
place to our imagination, we notice that the journey can be made in its own
city …
To crown this tendency - And this time I think to you of Sirs – it’s
impossible to live here without perceiving a haughtiness " Vintage Car
" parked or circulating in the streets of Melbourne. Ford Falcon or
Mustang, Holden or Chevrolet, we make a direct jump in past.
Finally for the unusual Vintage, I shall want to speak about the
Australian mentality, the vintage spirit that we doubtless lost in France, a
reason also for which certainly the French feel so good here.
Indeed, when I think about the Vintage, the first word that I associate
it’s “authentic”. And this authenticity I find it at the Australian's to whom I
feel that this quality is important, to be authentic in friendship, in an
instant to shared.
Then the Vintage it’s the art to value of the old in our modern world
and to highlight the beauty of the object instead of throwing it. The Aussies
surprises me, because they have this extraordinary capacity to become attached
only to the positive things of the life, as children who see only the beauty of
moment.
In front of a vintage object, I stop, I admire the esthetics, I plunge
into its history and I analyze how this object being a part of past and find
totally its place in the present. And well Aussies and Melbourne force me to
arrest me, to pose me and to admire with what an art they knew how to mix the
old and the modern, take the main part and the beauty of several cultures to
return this city and the Melbournians so charming!
So Vintage…

L’avantage de vivre dans une ville comme Melbourne c’est la sensation de voyager en permanence… Alors bien sûr par son côté cosmopolite que j’adore mais surtout avec son « vintage style » !!!
Pour information, le mot « vintage » est un terme anglicisme qui était utilisé en œnologie pour parler de millésimes spiritueux ou de vins (peut-être est-ce pour cela que j’aime tant utiliser ce mot comme toute Française qui se respecte, cette notion faisant partie de ma culture). Par extension, ce terme s’est appliqué à la mode, à la décoration, aux voitures et à la photo.
Petit rappel fait, me voici plongée au cœur de Melbourne millésimé… Je m’explique.
Première impression en arrivant ici, the fashion… Et bien oui je ne peux pas parler de vintage sans parler de mode - et là ce sera pour vous Mesdames - quelle fut ma surprise en voyant des leggings, des shorts à franges et des bodys encore en boutique ! Plongeon dans les années 90. Disparus de nos rayons depuis longtemps, j’avais même lu dernièrement dans un magazine féminin Français que le legging était « has been ». Que croire désormais ?! Résultat, garde-robe totalement revue avec toujours une French Touch !
Seconde impression l’architecture… Mon regard ne cesse de se porter sur ses maisons victoriennes (construites durant le règne de la Reine Victoria d’Angleterre), quelle beauté et quel millésime architectural ! L’avantage du vintage c’est qu’on est très vite transporté dans une autre époque et si on laisse place à son imaginaire, on s’aperçoit que le voyage peut se faire dans sa propre ville…
Pour couronner cette tendance - et cette fois-ci je pense à vous Messieurs - il est impossible de vivre ici sans apercevoir une superbe « Vintage Car » garée ou circulant dans les rues de Melbourne. Entre les Ford Falcon ou Mustang, les Holden ou les Chevrolet, on fait un bond direct dans le passé.
Enfin pour le Vintage Insolite, j’aurai envie de parler de la mentalité Australienne, un esprit millésimé qu’on a sans doute perdu un peu en France, une raison aussi pour laquelle certainement les Frenchies se sentent si bien ici.
En effet, lorsque je pense au Vintage, le premier mot que j’associe c’est authentique. Et cette authenticité je la retrouve chez les Australiens chez qui je sens que cette qualité est importante, être authentique en amitié, dans l’instant partagé.
Ensuite le Vintage c’est l’art de valoriser de l’ancien dans notre monde moderne et de faire ressortir la beauté de l’objet au lieu de le jeter. A nouveau, les Aussies me surprennent, car ils ont cette extraordinaire capacité à ne s’attacher qu’aux choses positives de la vie, comme des enfants qui ne voient que la beauté de l’instant.
Face à un objet vintage, je m’arrête, j’admire l’esthétique, je me plonge dans son histoire et j’analyse de quelle manière cet objet faisant partie du passé trouve totalement sa place au présent. Et bien les Aussies et Melbourne me forcent à m’arrêter, me poser et admirer avec quel art ils ont su mixer l’ancien et le moderne, prendre l’essentiel et la beauté de plusieurs cultures pour rendre cette ville et ses habitants aussi attachants !
